How to get to the Church from Ashford Ringroad

Leave the ringroad at the junction by the Shell garage, which is the Canterbury Road. Turn right at the traffic lights as if heading towards Canterbury.

Carry straight on at the next set of traffic lights, over the motorway bridge and through Bybrook. Carry straight on at the traffic lights (where Bybrook Road goes off to the left).

The next set of traffic lights is at Penlee Point, a three way junction where the road divides - get in the left filter lane and bear left into Faversham Road, which is the A251.

Follow the Faversham Road for about 1 mile. The church is on the right hand side, next door to the Rose Inn Pub. We are opposite Towers Garage - The second hand car dealership. If you turn sharp right into Ulley Road, which runs behind the pub and the church, you will find our car park.

If you pass the Towers School or the imposing gate-house of Eastwell Park, you have gone too far !

How to get to the Church from Junction 9 of the M20

The slip road from the motorway (South-bound) at Junction 9, leads down to a roundabout which passes underneath the motorway. Take the third exit.

100 yards of dual carriageway bring you up to another roundabout, where you take the first exit, which is Simone Weil Avenue. This concrete Dual carriageway takes you past the Ashford International Hotel and Sainsbury's Superstore down to a "T" junction controlled by traffic lights.

Turn left into Canterbury Road, which is the A28. This takes you back over the motorway. At the first set of traffic lights after the motorway bridge, you carry straight on.

How to get to the Church from Junction 10 of the M20

Leaving the M20 Northbound at Junction 10 of the M20, the slip road brings you up to a complicated roundabout over the motorway. Take the third exit which is Kennington Road, the B2164 (recently upgraded to the A2164), following signs for the Hospital. This is best achieved by making for the right hand lane of the roundabout as you leave the slip road, but make sure you are in the left hand lane as you go over the motorway bridge, so that you don't get trapped in the traffic going round.

Breathing a sigh of relief, follow Kennington Road up to a small roundabout on a hill, and take the second exit (straight on). Continue along the Kennington Road for about 2 and a half miles. At the point where the road crosses over the River Stour its name changes to the Willesborough Road. You should pass a large factory complex on your left (Quest International and Bachelors Foods), the Julie Rose Sports Stadium on your right and then go over a hump back bridge over the railway. A long straight stretch ends in a roundabout, where you take the second exit (turn right) into Canterbury Road.

Take the second turning on the left, opposite The Croft Hotel, into The Street. The Street is a continuation of what was the B2164

The Street also changes its name halfway along, where it crosses Church Road, it becomes Ulley Road. Slow down after you pass the cricket ground on your right, because the church carpark is just around the left hand bend on the left hand side of the road.

If you come out onto Faversham Road, you have gone too far !

How to get to the Church from Canterbury via the A28

Kennington is about 11 miles from Canterbury along the A28. Follow signs A28 to Ashford, there are no major junctions until you reach Chilham.

At Chilham, the A28 peels off to the left.

If you make a mistake and carry on with the A252 as it sweeps round to the right - do not panic. Follow the A252 until you reach the roundabout at Challock (by the Halfway House pub) and turn left. Then follow the directions as if coming from the M2 or Faversham.

The A28 continues past Godmersham, Bilting and turnings to Wye for another 4 miles before you begin to reach the outskirts of Ashford.

Look out for the "Golden Ball" pub, on the left hand side of the road. About a quarter of a mile further on, you need to make a right turn into The Street (B2164), which is right opposite The Croft Hotel.

The Street changes its name halfway along: where it crosses Church Road, it becomes Ulley Road. Slow down after you pass the cricket ground on your right, because the church carpark is just around the left hand bend on the left hand side of the road.

If you come out onto Faversham Road, you have gone too far !

How to get to the Church from the M2 or Faversham

Leave the M2 at the Ashford turn-off, Junction 6.

The A251, from Faversham, crosses the motorway at this junction, so turn onto the A251 following signs to Ashford.

Kennington Methodist / URC Church is actually on the A251, seven miles further on, on the left hand side, but the journey will here be described in a little more detail for the benefit of the traveller.

The A251 passes through a number of small villages, such as Sheldwich.
Just keep straight on until you reach a roundabout, where there is a pub called the Halfway House. Take the second exit (straight on).

About a mile further on, the road starts to descend quite a steep hill, with the wall of Eastwell Park on your right, and woodland broken by views across the Stour valley on your left. The wall on your right stops with the imposing towers of Eastwell Park, almost imediately you reach a traffic light controlled junction, where you go straight on.

Now look out for the Towers School on your left, and bear left into Ulley Road which is the next left hand turn. Almost immediately, turn right into the church carpark.
